Supreme Court Justice

Although my political leanings and those of the new Supreme Court Justice are slightly different, I support her recent appointment 100%. The Court is one of our country’s basic frameworks, which I completely trust. The other is the Constitution.

I am not keen on the House or Senate right now. In romance, opposites often attract, but it just ain’t so in government and politics. However,  the Court seems to produce positions and alliances among justices that frequently surprise in the best ways. I expect Justice Brown will develop into precisely the kind of Justice who balances personal beliefs with legal standards, and with legal standards almost always having the upper hand.

That only three Republicans trusted the foundations of our Republic in such a way as to say a heartfelt “Welcome to the Court” to its newest Justice is a downright sad commentary on any positives the Congress might produce going forward. 

Let’s pray for our country that this Court welcomes Justice Jackson with many unique friendships like that of Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Antonin Scalia. The strong friendship of these diametrical opposites developed out of mutual respect for each other’s intellectual abilities and commitments to the Court and to America. 

Justice Jackson. Kind of has a nice ring to it. Doesn’t it?!
