Glen and Annah Dunaway Fish Frying System

In the last blog, I described the fish fryer that our family used for years and years as I was growing up to fry fish for family gatherings. I expect it has also been used on a sandbar or two to fry up a day’s catch for some primitive camping trips on the Escatawpa, as well.

Below are two diagrams that explain how this unique fryer worked.

Image #2: Simulated Use

This unique system remains in our family. Unfortunately, life got busy, and we have seldom blown off the spider webs and put a fire under it to cook some fish. Damn shame. Now that my brother Bill, in whose garage, it has been gathering dust and arachnids, and I are both retired, it sure seems like now is a really good time for another fish fry.
